When I first started traveling, my beauty routine went out the door. I just couldn’t justify carrying around a ton of heavy products with me (because you know, that’s valuable space for shoes and clothing). It had never even crossed my mind that brands make a ton of awesome travel sized versions of your favorite beauty products that not only cut the weight of your toiletry bag in half, but also allows you to avoid skimping on your pamper time.
And while everyone has their own routine, there are some travel sized beauty products that I will not travel without. They can make your life easier, they will make you feel cleaner if you don’t have time to take a shower (or have no access to one), and they can help you feel as if you are not in fact living out of a suitcase for several weeks at a time.
Whether you’re backpacking, going on a fancy trip, or camping, there are essentials that will improve your beauty routine on the go. In fact, all you need to do is throw these five travel sized beauty products into your toiletry bag and you’ll start feeling better while on the road!
1) A High Quality Dry Shampoo To Keep Hair Looking And Feeling Fresh
MoroccanOil Dry Shampoo Dark Tones, $10.50, Sephora
Dry shampoo will become your best friend while you’re traveling. The truth of the matter is sometimes you don’t have time to wash your hair. Sometimes you may not even have access to a functioning shower. And that’s okay. Just spray a bit of dry shampoo in your hair, brush it through your hair, give it a little shake or tousle and you’ve got the foundation great second (or third or fourth) day hair.
2) Makeup Remover Wipes To Stay Refreshed
Hydrating Make-Up Remover Cleansing Towels, $8, Ulta
Makeup Remover Wipes are a travel beauty staple because not only do they remove stubborn, waterproof makeup, but they can also be used to freshen up on the go. Use them after a long bus ride, or a day at the beach, or even after a long hike. They’ll keep your face clean and refreshed so you don’t feel as if you have a layer of grime on your face.
3) A Nail File And Nail Polish Remover Sheets To Keep Nails Looking Clean
Mini Salon Board Nail File 3 Pack, $2, Target
Butter LONDON Scrubbers 2-in-1 Prep and Remover Wipes (10 Count), $10, Dermstore
Odds are your nails are going to split or break while you’re out adventuring. And you don’t want to be stuck searching for a nail file in a foreign country. Sometimes they can be difficult to come by. You’ll also want to toss some nail polish remover sheets into your bag because your nail polish will generally start to chip and you don’t want to be left picking at the leftover color.
4) A Solid Shampoo To Save Liquids For Your Carry On
Avocado Co-Wash, $16, Lush
If you’re only packing carry on, you want to limit your liquids. In which case I think it’s always a good idea to pack a solid shampoo bar instead of a small travel sized version. Shampoo bars last up to 80 washes, which is way more than your little tiny bottle does. Look for one with ingredients like avocado oil, rosemary, lavender, and olive oil to keep your strands looking and feeling super soft after every wash.
5) A Sheet Mask To Keep Your Face Hydrated On The Plane
BORGHESE Four Pack Treatment Sheet Mask Box Set, $24, Lord and Taylor
I love a good sheet mask. Especially on a plane. Yes, you will get funny looks from the passengers around you. But your skin will feel super hydrated after a long haul flight. Sheet masks are easy because you can toss them in your purse and use them wherever you go. So if you don’t feel confident enough to rock one on a plane just yet, you can use it in the comfort of your hotel room after the flight for smooth, moisturized skin.
