It’s cold. No matter where you are in America. Temperatures are reaching a record low this winter season so it’s important to make sure you stay warm out there--whether you’re hitting the mountain, or just wandering around a city.
I live in Florida and right now it's 55 degrees fahrenheit. That is freezing for us down here! But, that can be handled with a light jacket and some jeans. I’m heading up to New York the end of January and I have to mentally prepare myself for how cold that will be (it’s currently 14 degrees). So if you’re like me and you have a trip planned to a place in the states that’s cold right now, there are some things you can pack with you to make sure you stay warm.
Don’t let a little bit of cold air or some snow slow you down from exploring a new place. There are certain items that can make you more comfortable for a day out exploring in the below freezing temps. And they aren’t just made for the slopes!
A good pair of thermals can really help you keep your body temperature regulated.Thermals are perfect for layering and are often made from moisture wicking materials which actually doesn’t just keep you dry, it keeps you at the right temperature. Plus, they keep you cozy and they’re thin enough to wear under just about anything.
2) Snow Boots
Snow boots aren’t just for the snow. They also keep your feet warm and toasty on the days that chill you to your bones. Find a good pair that are waterproof, insulated, and lined with something like shearling. You should also make sure they have good traction so you’re not sliding around on any ice that might cross your path.
3) A Heated Jacket
Did you know there was such thing as a heated jacket? I had no idea. And I definitely could have used one back in my skiing days. But anyways, you can find a heated jacket that will keep you warm on even the coldest winter days. All you do is charge the detachable battery pack before you head out for the day. Stick it in your pocket, plug it into your jacket and feel the warmth spread all over!
